The Airmic Annual Conference 2026 has ended. The official conference site listed 15–17 June 2026 at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham. This briefing is a recap for UK risk managers: what should have been in the bag, and how that file differs from a Monte Carlo treaty pack. Next dates belong on conference.airmic.com, not on a guessed calendar. Last checked 25 August 2026. Reinsured.AI does not host, sponsor, or organise Airmic. Trademarks belong to Airmic. The official button on this page already goes to the organiser.
What this meeting was for in the placement calendar
Airmic in June is the UK risk and insurance management community’s annual gathering. It sits after RISKWORLD (May, Philadelphia) and well before the Rendez-Vous de Septembre (5–9 September, Monte Carlo). For a UK risk manager the calendar job is programme honesty before brokers lock a London placing file for 1 January or other inceptions: structure, deductibles, SOV, claims as-at, and the London-market habits that will show up when the slip is typed. It is not bilateral treaty week in Monaco.
Who should have prepared: UK and international risk managers whose programmes are placed in London, their brokers’ client-facing leads, and anyone about to be asked for a schedule that actually sums. Who should not have treated ICC Birmingham as the Fairmont: reinsurer treaty underwriters collecting 1/1 indications. Wrong meeting. See Monte Carlo 2026 for that job.
What it was not. It was not RVS. It was not SIRC. It was not RISKWORLD, though both are risk-manager conferences; different organiser, country, and date. It was not ITC. It was not a licence to invent the 2027 Airmic dates in this recap. Use conference.airmic.com and airmic.com.
London market context: markets/london, What is Lloyd's of London?, What is an insurance broker in reinsurance?. Cedent-side reporting if you buy reinsurance: solutions/cedents. Tools conversation: insurance AI.
What a UK risk manager should have taken
The file is ordinary and still the thing people skip. Programme structure with limits and deductibles cited to the policy or to the slip the broker holds. A current SOV that sums, with an as-at date, not a PDF photograph of a schedule. Claims as-at for the years you will discuss. Wording excerpts that govern business interruption or hours if property is material. A gap list for finance items that are still missing. A marketing one-pager about culture is not a schedule of values.
Chase list that should have been closed in June, or that should still be open on the internal list:
- Named insured legal name versus trading name unresolved — a London slip will copy whatever you give it.
- SOV without as-at, or locations that opened after the last workbook.
- Warehouse or yard occupancy on the ground and “offices” on the slip (class, not rounding).
- Hours clause or indemnity period missing while a BI conversation is planned for renewal.
- Loss run that does not match the policy years the London market will see.
- Deductible in a board pack that disagrees with the wording.
- Broker still holding an unsigned placing document from last year as if it were current.
How to build a facultative submission pack is written for brokers, but the document list is the same completeness test an insured should apply before the broker is blamed. What is a chase list? still applies when the chase is internal: estates, finance, operations.
We do not copy Airmic’s programme. Education content lives on the official conference site. This recap is the pack.
How it differed from Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo is the reinsurance bilateral week in September, organised by RVS, Fairmont Monte-Carlo. Airmic is UK risk managers in June, ICC Birmingham, organised by Airmic. Different rooms, different packs. A risk manager’s SOV in June is an input to a broker’s Monte Carlo zip in September. Taking the Airmic tote-bag narrative to Monaco as if it were a cited attachment is how a following market quotes a ghost.
Other neighbours: RISKWORLD was the US risk-manager conference in May, completed; next US dates are on rims.org, not here. CIAB ILF is US broker leadership in October. SIRC is Asia treaty in November. Insurtech Insights Europe was London innovation in March, completed. None of those are Airmic.
If your group attended Airmic and will attend Monte Carlo, split the work. June: make the schedule true. September: brokers and markets sit. Do not ask a risk manager to “do 1/1” in Birmingham. Do not ask a treaty underwriter to “do risk culture” as if that replaced a hours clause.
Next Airmic dates: official site only. We will not mint a 2027 year page until we verify it the same way we verified 15–17 June 2026.
ACME Construction Ltd recap
ACME Construction Ltd (acme.example) works as a UK-flavoured caution even though the sample numbers are written in USD on this site. Unsigned slip. TIV 42 million on the slip versus 47.1 million on the SOV because a warehouse was added. Hours clause missing. SOV as-at missing. Occurrence USD 10 million on slip page 2.
What ACME’s UK risk manager should have had at the ICC, and what they should still fix:
- The warehouse. Occupancy and value. If London is about to write offices, the yard will become a claim fight. Class mismatch is not a geocode nicety.
- An as-at on the SOV so the broker does not type last year’s total into a MRC.
- A hours clause they have actually read, not a market-standard sentence remembered from a previous year.
- A clear instruction that nobody averages 42 and 47.1 to make a board slide pretty.
- A refusal to let the unsigned slip travel as if lines were written.
Contrast with Monte Carlo: the same ACME zip is a pack a placing broker should not take to the Fairmont. The Birmingham recap is that the insured should have stopped that zip from existing. Two meetings, one incomplete file, two chances to catch it. The pack inspector still shows the conflict. Source-grounded extraction still forbids silent merge.
If ACME’s programme is London-placed, the broker hub solutions/brokers is how the other side should ingest the mailbox. The insured still owns the schedule.
