The 68th Rendez-Vous de Septembre is the September bilateral week before 1 January treaty renewals. Dates on this page were taken from the organiser on 25 August 2026: 5–9 September 2026 at the Fairmont Monte-Carlo. Confirm them on the Official RVS site before you travel. This briefing is what an operator should prepare for a table — not a programme scrape, a floor map, or a claim that Reinsured.AI hosts, sponsors, or attends. Trademarks RVS and Rendez-Vous de Septembre belong to RVS. Do not use their logo on your slides.

What this meeting is for in the placement calendar

Monte Carlo is where treaty conversations that have been sitting in a mailbox become appointments. It is not where you invent a structure on a terrace. The market already knows who needs capacity for 1/1. The week is for walking a file a following market can actually price: attachment, territorial scope, class, exclusions, hours clause, reinstatement, and a current schedule of values. If you cannot cite the page, you do not have a number. You have a conversation that will be repeated in October with less patience.

The calendar around it is simple even when diaries are not. September is the bilateral open. What is an October 1st renewal in reinsurance? is a market custom, not this conference. 1 January is the main European and many international treaty boards. October in Baden-Baden is the later European follow-through for programmes that are still open after this week. November in Singapore is the Asia gathering. Mixing those four into one recycled PDF is how a warehouse on an SOV becomes a treaty anecdote.

Who should care, in operations language: placing brokers who will sit with cedents and markets; cedent reinsurance buyers who owe a board they can defend; reinsurer treaty underwriters who will be asked to indicate. Facultative desks sit because some of the same counterparties are in the room, but a facultative zip is not a treaty pack. Name the job on the file before you book the table. The official button on this page already goes to RVS for registration and house rules. Use this page for the pack.

Prep pack and chase list

A Monte Carlo prep pack is a working file, not a capability brochure. For treaty, that means wording excerpts that actually govern, structure (attachment, limit, share, reinstatement), a subject-business definition, bordereaux samples that foot, loss experience with an as-at date, and a chase list for what is still missing. For facultative side-meetings, that means a slip or MRC, a current SOV that sums, loss history, and the same chase list. The long document list lives in How to build a facultative submission pack. The treaty shape lives on treaty reinsurance.

The three objects this site will not stop repeating: a cited attachment, a current SOV, a chase list. Cited attachment means the layer or the occurrence limit points at a page or a cell, not at a slide. Current SOV means the workbook in the zip is the one in force, with an as-at date, not last March’s file with a warehouse added in an email nobody printed. Chase list means the ordered gaps and conflicts that still block a quote. See What is a chase list in reinsurance submissions?.

Useful chase items before you sit down:

Regenerate the list when a new attachment arrives in September. A chase list frozen in July dies the week someone sends SOV v4. Read-only mailbox ingest is how a broker operations team stops treating the inbox as memory. This website does not take live client packs. Inspect the fictional file on the pack inspector. Production stays in your tenant.

What does not belong in the Monte Carlo zip: last year’s placing presentation “for colour,” three unsigned slip versions with no current stamp, a vendor one-pager about culture, or a floor plan you copied from a third-party blog. Extra files create extra conflicts. Markets quote the file you sent, not the file you meant to send.

How it differs from Baden-Baden and SIRC

Baden-Baden is the later European follow-through, typically thought of as an October week, organised separately. We do not have verified 2026 dates for it on an official organiser URL, so this site will not mint an ISO calendar for that meeting. If you need October, open the Official Baden-Baden portal and read what the organiser has published. Do not treat Monte Carlo and Baden-Baden as one trip with the same pack. Programmes that are still open after September need an updated chase list, not a reprint of the Fairmont PDF.

SIRC 2026 is the November Asia treaty-renewal gathering at Sands Expo, organised by the Singapore Reinsurers' Association. Many international programmes need both conversations. The Singapore market page is markets/singapore. A London or Continental board discussed in Monaco is not automatically the Asian board. Territorial scope, local cedents, and the files those counterparties actually post are different completeness tests.

Confusable neighbours that are still not this week: PLUS Conference 2026 is professional liability in San Diego, not 1/1 CAT tables. ITC Vegas 2026 is an innovation conference at Mandalay Bay, not treaty placement. CIAB Insurance Leadership Forum 2026 is broker leadership in Colorado Springs, often gated. If your diary says “reinsurance week” for all of them, your pack process is already wrong.

ACME Construction Ltd: a pack you would not take

ACME Construction Ltd (acme.example) is the fictional file this site uses everywhere. It is also a precise example of a pack you would not take to a Monte Carlo table if you still had a choice.

Slip.pdf page 1: named insured ACME Construction Ltd, period 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026. Slip.pdf page 2: USD 10,000,000 any one occurrence, TIV 42 million. The slip is unsigned. SOV.xlsx totals 47.1 million because a warehouse was added after the slip was typed. Hours clause: not in the pack. SOV as-at: not in the pack. That is two traced fields, one conflict, and two chase items, plus an unsigned placing document. That is sendable only if you want the market to price a fight.

Why it fails at a 1/1 table, in operator order:

Walk the same file on the pack inspector. Source-grounded extraction is the contract: no span, no value. If your internal worksheet already “fixed” TIV by typing the SOV total onto the slip, you are the conflict. Stop doing that in the dark. Amend the slip, drop the location, or tell the market the schedule moved — after a person sees both sources.

If ACME were a treaty anecdote instead of a facultative zip, the failure would rhyme: a warehouse schedule cited as subject premium, or a hours clause that lives only in a pricing memo. Do not take that to the Fairmont either.

Questions people actually ask

These are corridor and ops questions. They are not copied session titles. RVS publishes its own programme. Read that on the official site.

Will they quote if the hours clause is still missing? Some will indicate with a condition. Many will assume a window. Neither is a reason to leave the gap off the chase list. Put it on page one of the pack.

Can we reuse the June investor PDF as the structure slide? No. Structure is attachment, limit, share, reinstatement, and the wording excerpt. A capital-markets narrative is not a cited attachment.

Do we need the full bordereaux history in the room? You need samples that foot and an as-at you can defend. Dumping three years of unclassified sheets is how the following market prices the wrong year.

What if the client sends SOV v3 the night before the meeting? Regenerate the pack. Keep spans that still hold. Reopen TIV if the warehouse is new. Do not present v2 because the print shop already ran.

Is this the week to demo software to a treaty lead? Only if you brought a file with a split TIV and a missing clause and you are asking whether the tool averages. ITC Vegas is the innovation conference. This week is placement. Mystery-shop vendors on their time, not on a cedent’s twenty-minute slot.

Where do London market habits sit in this week? Many tables are still London-facing. See London market. The pack rules do not change because the hotel has a harbour view.
